British Council together with CARE International Sri Lanka collaborated on the Unbound Creative Writing project as a component of the YOUth CREATE Project which was supported by the European Union (2014 – 2016). The main aim of the project was to develop creative writing skills of young people in writing short stories while addressing themes around identities, diversity, reconciliation, democratisation and conflict resolution.
All writings produced as a result of this project are published in this digital collection.
British Council and CARE International Sri Lanka would particularly like to thank the following nationally acclaimed creative writers who were mentors on this project for all their work in making this initiative a success: Sunethra Rajakarunanayake, Piyaseeli Wijemanna, Ameena Hussein, Sopa Pathmanathan, Ayathurai Santhan, Lal Madewattegedara, Nissanka Wijemanna, K S Sivakumaran and Delon Weerasinghe. We also thank the UK creative writer Julia Paul who facilitated the creative writing materials development workshop and Udhara de Silva, the creative digital media consultant who created the digital platforms for the project.
